Buying a New vs. Used Vehicle

When purchasing a vehicle, many are torn between what's "better"--New or Used.

It all depends on your preference & budget.

New Vehicles--Many like the peace of mind that buying New offers. You are the sole owner of the vehicle-which means you don't have to wonder how the previous owner treated the vehicle. Most of the time you are eligible for dealer discounts, factory rebates, and bonus cash offers that help decrease the amount of the cost of the vehicle. Most, if not all, vehicles come with a factory warranty, which eliminates worrying about out-of-pocket maintenance expenses during the first year of ownership. You also get to enjoy that "new car smell"! A perk indeed!

Used Vehicles--The big difference you will find when buying Used is in price. If you are willing to accept a few more miles or wear-and-tear on a vehicle, then most likely you can find the vehicle you want at a fraction of the new car price. The drawbacks of course are the unknowns-previous owner, maintenance history, etc. Used vehicles also do not come with a warranty (although you can purchase one), no rebates or incentives are offered when buying. You may have some surprises down the road, but some think the risk is worth the difference in initial price (from New).
